What is Lyrical & Contemporary?

These two dance styles go hand in hand, encompassing the slower technical dancing of the Lyrical style at the heart of strong and emotive storylines, we find often these stories are best told through a partnership with the style of contemporary. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to express themselves through dance and is all about the artistry of movement.

Focuses in the Lyrical Contemporary class

Strengthening Technique through focussed work on footwork, turns, leaps and skills.

Pairing the above with an equal focus on emotive performance through dance, focussing not only how we utilise facial expressions but also how we utilise expression through our bodies.

Building storylines, assessing songs lyrically and gaining an understanding of the text and how this translates through dance. There will often be performance opportunities and this is where we will showcase the skills developed throughout the class
